This year’s river trip in July found Harold, his mom and her sister in the West Texas Hill Country at Garner State Park and the Frio River. Even in the middle of summer, the river is on the cool side. It is aptly named; ‘frio’ means ‘cold’ in Spanish.
Thinking that Harold would be better off floating in an inflatable boat, we tried two different styles at home, choosing the larger of the two. As it turned out, he didn’t need or want either one. He’s such a social butterfly, he swims out to greet passing tubers as they float by.
