You may wonder why a site that honors Marine Corporal Casey Alan Owens and his English Labrador service animal, Harold, seems to emphasize Harold.

When Casey was awarded Harold, it soon became apparent that it was a match that was ‘meant to be’. More than a service animal, Harold was Casey’s constant companion. To say they helped each other is the definition of an understatement. Living in Aspen, Colorado as they did, it was a rare person who didn’t know this amazing duo. Neither Casey nor Harold ever met a stranger. They were known and welcomed all over town; from the city streets, to the restaurants and even the ski slopes. When asked about Harold, Casey once responded, “Oh, that’s Harold, my Wonder Dog! “. And so the name was born.

Harold is all of that and more. These days, he is a well cared-for and respected member of our family and never lets Casey’s mom, with whom he has bonded, out of his sight.
